This study aims to examine the role of personality competency in forming effective leadership in school principals. Personality competency is an important basis in carrying out leadership functions, such as being a role model, building good communication, and making wise and integrity-based decisions. The research method used is qualitative with a literature study approach from several journals related to principal leadership. The results of the study indicate that principals who have integrity, role models, and good interpersonal skills tend to be more successful in creating a conducive learning environment and supporting the improvement of teacher competency and student achievement. Therefore, strengthening personality competency needs to be a major part of the professional development of school principals.
