Abstract

Physical activity is known to be crucial for cognitive functions like attention, concentration, and executive function, all of which are vital for learning. This is because movement stimulates the brain and increases BDNF production in the prefrontal cortex, a key area for focus. This quantitative study aimed to prove that physical activity intensity significantly impacts learning concentration. The study involved 61 randomly selected middle school students. Researchers used the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) to measure physical activity and a separate questionnaire for learning concentration. The results showed that both physical activity and learning concentration were at a moderate level, suggesting students lacked sufficient physical activity and focus. The statistical test confirmed a significant relationship, with a significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.05), indicating that physical activity has a proven effect on learning concentration. Physical activity accounted for 15.1% of the variation in learning concentration, with other factors explaining the remaining 84.9%. This finding suggests that regular physical activity can help students become more mentally prepared to learn.
