Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of picture series media and flash cards on simple essay writing skills of third grade students of SDN 25 Palembang. In this study, the researcher used an experimental method with a true experimental design of the posttest-only control group design. The population of the study was all third-grade students of SDN 25 Palembang, totaling 50 students. The research sample used was class III B as an experiment totaling 25 students and class III C as an experimental class totaling 25 students. The sample selection was done randomly (random sampling). The data collection techniques used were tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used the t-test (independent sample t-test). The results showed a significant difference between class III B experiment and class III C experiment. Class III B experiment using series of picture media obtained an average value of 77.48, while class III C experiment using flash cards obtained an average value of 71.88. The t-value = 2.475 is greater than t-table = 2.011 and with a significance value of <0.05. So, it can be concluded that the significant influence of series of picture media and flash cards on the writing skills of simple essays of class III students of SD Negeri 25 Palembang.
